No Contact Policy

The No Contact policy at Dystopia Rising New Jersey is a system that allows players to prevent interactions with another player, on the base of interpersonal issues.

In any large group of people, there will inevitably be issues between players for a variety of reasons. The no contact policy at Dystopia Rising New Jersey is intended to be used by players to completely avoid other players at game. Think of it like blocking someone in a video game.

Staff will not ask questions behind the reasoning of a no contact policy being put into place. It is the choice of the player, no questions asked.

How it Works

  • Carefully read the below information

  • Complete the embedded form at the bottom of the page. By filling out this form you are confirming you have read and understand the information on this page.

  • The form is then processed into our system

  • A standardized form message is sent to the person who you initiate a no contact order against, along with a link to this page.

  • The recipient of the no contact order will then complete the same embedded form at the bottom of the page.

  • A confirmation of receipt is entered into our system

  • Every 3 calendar months a staff member will reach out to the creator of the no contact order to confirm they wish to keep it in place. If, after one calendar year (4 quaterly checks) the no contact will become permanent in our system. No further checks past this point will be initiated by staff at DRNJ.

  • The creator of the non contact order may rescind it at any time by reaching out to local staff to inform them.

Why this policy exists

  • We trust our players to manage their experience at DRNJ. You know what you need to have a safe and enjoyable time at DRNJ.

  • If you are compelled to avoid another player for personal reasons, you shouldn’t have to explain yourself.

  • The no contact policy is a safety tool, and we trust our players will take advantage of it when they need it, without doing so maliciously.

Please Be Aware

  • A no contact policy is not a legal solution in any way or form.

  • This policy extends only to official Dystopia Rising events.

  • If you need additional help outside of game, reach out to local staff, and they may be able to help you find resources.

No Contact Means

  • Not being in the same scene at the same time.

  • Not contacting them in person or through online means, calls or texts for the duration of the event.

  • Not contacting them through friends, associates or intermediaries.

  • Not continuing story lines between characters in game.

No Contact Does Not Mean

  • Using this to block people from their designated sleeping areas, bathrooms or food.

  • Using this as a tool to exclude others from community or story based activities.

  • Using this as a tool for harassment in any way. This will be taken very seriously if mistreated.

  • Using this as a way to avoid in character repercussions. That can be handled in more appropriate ways.

Duration

  • No contact orders do not have a term limit.

  • Every for the first 12 months, a member of staff will check in to see if the no contact order should continue.

  • After 12 months if a no contact order has not been rescinded, it will be considered permanent unless staff is otherwise advised by the creator of the order.

  • The creator of the no contact order may remove it at any time by reaching out to local staff.

  • Please note: Game runners may opt to remove a no contact order if they find it was used as a tool of harassment, or exclusion of the other party.

Additionally:

  • A no contact order applies equally to both parties while inside of all official DRNJ spaces.

  • Please respect the request if you receive a no contact order. There is no need to ask why it was sent, and you will not receive additional information from staff.

  • Do not use no contact orders as a way to gain sympathy from other players, or harass them.

  • Please tell a guide if there is a casting conflict.

  • Please operate in good faith while at game. Do not immediately assume bad intentions if the other party enters a room they didn’t know you were in.

  • Please inform game runners of your no-contact order if visiting other games so they can handle it accordingly. A no contact order is only lifted after all parties have been informed.

If These Terms Are Not Followed

  • The local team will manage this based on the situation.

  • Judgement will be based on the way the no contact order was broken or disregarded, not on the reasoning behind it being put in place.
